Swedish Vallhund Rescue Information: The Swedish Vallhund is a little fox-like dog that likes to ham it up and be the center of attention. Swedish Vallhunds have pleasant temperaments and are good with children as long as the children do not tease or behave obnoxiously. Vallhunds can be very protective and make good watchdogs. Swedish Vallhunds respond well to obedience training. Male Vallhunds may be combative with other male dogs. Swedish Vallhunds need plenty of activity but can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.

Swedish Vallhund Trivia: The Swedish Vallhund is believed to have been a Viking dog. Swedish Vallhunds resemble, and may be related to, Welsh Corgis. 2008 was the first year the Swedish Vallhund competed in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Swedish Vallhunds are quite rare and would have become extinct in the forties were it not for the efforts of Bjorn von Rosen and Karl-Gustaf Zettersten of Sweden. Vallhund means herding dog.
